Despite having no farming background, it seemed that pig keeping for us was inevitable, even with all the tough learning curves free range pig farming in the winter can throw at you! The next step was to start a breeding herd on the farm. We travelled across the country to buy our first breeding stock and it sure didn't take long for Hugh (our new boar) to get to work, and before we knew it, our first litter on the farm arrived. With extremely high feed costs, the only way that we could keep Hugh's progeny under control and to continue with our passion for pig keeping was to establish a pork outlet. We called in the help of family and friends to hold our first ever open day on the farm, selling our produce from a single fridge under a gazebo. Over time, we have now built our own 'Snoutwood' shop in the form of a log cabin.
